"Learning is not the product of teaching. Learning is the product of the activity of learners." ~ John Holt
My students are on the move in our classroom learning in groups, individually, and as a class.
They do not sit in one spot for too long and rarely sit at their desks. They are actively learning.
My students love school! They enter the classroom excited every day to see what the schedule is and what their learning targets will be. I have many who face challenges at home and many who are struggling academically. However, they do not let these challenges defeat them. The perseverance residing in each one of them inspires me every day and makes me strive to give 200 percent, all day, every day.
My class loves to learn on their laptops. They start their morning each day with 20 minutes on a fabulous program that targets key concepts such as letters, sounds, sight words and reading comprehension. Laptops are also used various times of our day when the students have extra time or choose it as a Fun Friday station choice.
Students have to share headphones and a computer mouse because we do not have enough for each student.
Some students end up playing the games without sound and struggle to use the laptop mouse pad. This impacts the individual learning experience of each student.
It would be wonderful if each and every student could grab a set of headphones and a mouse and begin learning on their laptops. Each student would have the same opportunity to learn and all students would thrive!
