I teach third grade at a Title 1 school with economically disadvantaged children. My students are enthusiastic learners who strive to do their best, and love to learn. They always put in their best effort to learn as much as they can. They have what it takes to be successful when they are given the opportunity. My students never give up despite their hardships. We have 95% Free and Reduced lunches and a variety of languages spoken at our school.
My students need the opportunity to have choices in their seating throughout the day. This will help them stay focused and on task by being able to wiggle and move around to their own needs while they concentrate and learn. It is difficult for young children to sit in our classroom chairs for long durations of time and sometimes they need to move to alternative seats to help them be more successful learners.
We love to use our Chromebooks to learn.
My students also do a lot of activities on their chromebooks where they need to listen in order to stay engaged. Without headphones, the entire class has to listen to everyone's individual chromebook at the same time. We do math programs that explain problems to the children orally and a spelling program that tells the words to the children to write or tells the words in sentences for them to build vocabulary.
