This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom consists of fourth and fifth grade students with high functioning autism. We are on the Common Core curriculum and follow the same pacing plan as the general education classes.
My students are motivated and have a thirst for knowledge.
I provide a safe and fun environment for them to learn in. Roughly half the day I teach in a whole group setting, while the other half is spent in small group settings where I can pinpoint and focus on individual weaknesses. We are a low income, Title I school made up of ELD and SEL students. Most of my students do not have access to technology outside of the classroom.
My Project
Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." As a teacher of students with very curious minds and needs, it is my job to sharpen that weapon. The donations will allow them to explore the world and give them access to so much more content.
I want my students to graphically design 3D models so that they can print them on our 3D printer.
The donations will give my classroom a powerful computer that will be able to render and process the 3D models. Today's software, such as AutoCad or Cinema 4D, require a much more powerful processor than the computers we currently have in our room. The MacBook Pro will be used for the projects that require more processing. Students will be able to take turns and utilize its processor when needed to create 3D models for our 3D printer.
