I serve a population of 15 low-income pre-K students. The world of today is full of technology. I love that all of my students are full of energy and love to explore new things. We are located in the inner city of Detroit, and most of the children do not have computers and tablets at home, nor do they have the luxury of having a library close by.
Tablets bring the library to the child and they can explore virtual learning on a different level.
Tablets also get children familiar with computers which prepares them for kindergarten when they have to take standardized testing. Most often our children fail tests because they are not familiar with the technology.
The laptop will make a difference with the children in their learning skills because they will learn how to operate a laptop before they get to kindergarten and have to take statewide standardized testing. A lot of times our children reach the next level and do not know how to use a computer because they are not familiar with one and they fail the test. This is something seen all too often in public schools.
My goal is to help the students help themselves at an early age where you can make the most positive impact that will last a lifetime.
Knowledge can not be taken away from you at any age.
