Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an active class of 10 students with autism. Our students are integrated with their peers in general education, but when they are in the special education classroom, they rotate to different centers where they receive highly individualized, motivating, and effective academic instruction.
Our students are in kindergarten and first grade.
They love school and enjoy learning new concepts. They are active, artistic, bright, funny, and help me to be a better teacher. Our students have autism spectrum disorder. They are capable of achieving so much, and continue to exceed my expectations.
I have seen so much progress made in our classroom, and appreciate providing for my students. I go out of my way to purchase new, motivating materials to help my students engage in new concepts.
My Project
We have recently requested for new technology. We have a new iPad mini and laptop in the classroom. Now, we need printer 6 ink cartridges to print out student work and teacher materials.
My students often have difficulty with common core materials and need the curriculum to be adapted to their needs. I take pride in designing individualized worksheets to assist the students in accessing common core curriculum and grade-level standards. I spend a lot of time creating these worksheets and have invested in a lot of ink! Now, I would like to request donations to help purchase ink. Color ink is also needed to print pictures which help strengthen student vocabulary and reading comprehension. I laminate these pictures for future students to use.
This project will make a difference because I will be able to provide my students with the materials they need.
Students with autism can have difficulty engaging in academic material and when they do, they can have difficulty generalizing newly learned skills. Printer ink will help my students access new information and also, to print off student work for peer and parents' admiration.
