My Students
My students are part of a Title I neighborhood school in eastern North Carolina. We have 54% of our students who receive free or reduced price lunch. We missed several weeks of school due to Hurricane Florence this fall.
My students enjoy coming to school every day to learn new and exciting skills that will help them to become successful second graders!
We love to move around the classroom to participate in different activities but also need our own space for independent work.
My Project
These materials will make a different in my student's reading comprehension. My students will benefit from the nonfiction and fiction comprehension practice cards, the think, talk, write reading center, and the high-interest intervention reading centers. Making inferences, reading for detail, sequencing, and main idea are some of the reading concepts we cover in second grade. These concepts can be challenging for students to learn. The Find the Evidence clips will help with pointing out items we are working on but without writing in the books.
We have worked so hard learning our sight words and decoding our text that now it's time to work on comprehending what we are reading.
