Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a very diverse School in Newark, Delaware, where almost 40% of our students come from low-income families from different cultural backgrounds. This is my third year having the amazing opportunity of teaching Spanish to more than 200 students annually with very diverse learning styles.
Research shows that having a varied reading program is the way to go to differentiate for all type of learners, especially with high-interest novels written specifically in a very comprehensible way.
My Project
Scholastics offers authentic reading materials for students at their own level. With this subscription, students will be exposed to extra input at home to make up for the time they are loosing due to the hybrid/virtual learning schedule. In addition, Teachers Pay Teachers offers many quality comprehensible digital resources for Spanish students, so that they can continue to interact with the language in a naturally and comprehensible way. Having these materials from Teachers Pay Teachers will make it easier for me to focus on interacting in a positive and productive way with my students rather than spending all too much time adapting my resources into this new virtual learning.
