Help me give my students supplies for their interactive notebooks for science and social studies.
This project expired on April 28, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are creative, fun, and full of questions. We are constantly growing and trying to meet all of the children's needs.
Some people believe that being a Title I school is set up for failure, but I believe these children prove that to be completely the opposite.
The kids may be behind in select areas, but the challenge is so rewarding to the children and to the teachers. We see these children growing quicker than kids not in a Title I school when they have teachers who believe in them.
In third grade, cursive starts becoming a grade. Some kids cannot even read cursive in higher elementary. Since my students are fond of sitting on the floor more than sitting on a desk, I’d love to give them laptop floor desks. I also think they would benefit from having options in their seating. A lot of times when we go outside, they learn better because they aren't in the typical classroom.
Half of our students lost one of their teachers at the beginning of the year. With us using a binder system in one class, we ran into the issue of them leaving or losing it when we had to start rotating them through three teachers.
Having their composition notebooks stay in the desk of their teacher, will help us be organized and help the students have all the materials they need.
Being a Title I school, it is hard to get some of our school supplies from the parents, not because they do not want to, but the parents cannot afford to get it. As a teacher I bought 80 packs of dividers to try giving our binders a chance, but we just have not succeeded. Over break, I have decided to help the students out and buy majority or the composition notebooks we need, but now I need some help.
Having 70 students for science and social studies means 140 composition notebooks. I know that this will allow them to be more creative and have less of a load to carry.
