My Students

I work with some very inventive and inspiring 6th - 8th grade students. When they are given a subject to use as inspiration for their projects, the range of creativity consistently surprises me.

When they are challenged, they continue to rise to the occasion and often go above and beyond expectations.

They are funny, opinionated, passionate and determined to make their way into adulthood.

I look at them and see future professionals who will definitely succeed in whatever they do.

My Project

I am asking for several class sets of sketchbooks. In the past few months I have noticed how many of my middle school students are using composition notebooks to develop their drawing skills. I have even given a couple of my personal unused sketchbooks to students who needed them. It was as if I handed them the most precious treasure. They are so proud when they show me what they have been working on.

To give each one of my 6th - 8th grade students their own personal sketchbook would be a dream come true for me.

Not only will they be able to practice their art skills on proper paper, but they will also have a running record of their progress throughout the year. Furthermore, these books are durable enough to withstand mediums beyond crayons, pencils, and markers and have enough pages for students to continue to practice their technique into high school.
