I am currently starting at a new school in New Jersey. This school has not had a proper Music program in a number of years but the students are eager to learn. The middle school students have expressed interest in drums, piano and guitar. I have equipment for drums and piano but our school does not have any guitars.
I would like to add guitar to our centers based learning.
We have sections for drums, piano, music technology and listening and guitar would make a wonderful addition to their musical experience.
Middle School music can be challenging for a number of reasons. The students are usually not into the song and dance of early elementary but they are often times not skilled enough to perform the music they really enjoy. I have found that this is an excellent age group for Learning Center based education. It gives the students the flexibility to try different aspects of music while still being interactive enough to keep their attention.
It is my hope that we can add guitars to our Learning Centers as many students have expressed a desire to learn guitar.
It will be a perfect compliment to our centers where the students can explore various aspects of melody, chords and song writing.
