This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are all third graders at one of the largest Title I schools in our county. Our school district includes most of the apartment complexes in our county, many hotels, and several governments assisted complexes. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price meals. We also serve an unusually large non-English speaking community.
Many of my parents cannot afford to purchase the "extra" things needed for classes such as markers, folders, paper, etc., and it would be nearly impossible for them to fund a classroom "wish list" from the teacher.
My Project
My students enjoy working on math skills in small groups. The Math Running Record book will allow me to collect data on the students in order to group them more effectively. The guided math conferences will help my conferences with individual students to be more impactful. I can group my students better and deepen their math knowledge.
Math conferences will allow me to individualize instruction for my students.
The notebook and pen will allow me to take notes and upload the notes digitally to share with parents to keep them up to date with how their child is doing in math. We are looking forward to starting our math conferences.
