My Students
My students are a part of an alternative education program called Compass. We are a small, community-centered, project-based program with tenth to twelfth graders who love learning real-life skills.
Our students show us how passionate they are everyday, and I would love to fuel that enthusiasm with literature that they will engage in.
With our program on hands-on learning, it can be a struggle to find literature that each student views as relevant.
My students have fantastic, thoughtful, in-class discussions about current events. In small groups, they have had colorful, impressive literary analyses of short stories. I want to foster their collaborative spirit with longer-form reading.
My Project
To foster my students' love of learning, they need materials to read. I want to create a library stocked with interesting, relevant reading materials in my classroom.
Having books in the Compass building would eliminate barriers for students to access their education.
