This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students love art. However, my students are only able to take art once every 7 school days. So, the other days they spend time doodling in class, bringing pictures from home to share their artwork, and drawing after school. So, I created this project to bring art to the classroom.
At the end of the month, we have a PBIS party for those students who met the RISE expectations for our school.
The RISE expectations are respect, integrity, safety, and empathy. I would like to change this month's incentive by surprising the students with a paint party.
So this project is requesting canvases and paint to give each student. As a class reward, I want to set up the classroom for the students to paint on the last Friday of December. The students will absolutely love this surprise. I also hope it will help motivate positive behavior from the students who are not able to attend.
According to research, PBIS leads to better student behavior. In many schools that use PBIS, students get fewer detentions and suspensions. They also earn better grades. And there’s some evidence that PBIS may lead to less bullying. Please supply us with Papa Johns, Chiplote, Subway, Firehouse gift cards for our PBIS rewards.
The remaining items such as travel-size deodorant, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, chap stick, wipes, and breath mints are for the safety patrols to create bags. When developing the club, we based it off of community service. Each month the safety patrols must complete a community service project to complete to give back to our community. During the month of December they decided they wanted to make toiletries bags to give to the homeless along with a handwritten note of encouragement.
