Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Privacy folders and chair organizers would help create a better community in my class and cause less arguments.
My school is very focused on giving the students experiences that they may not get in their personal life due to financial situations.
Unfortunately, most of my students come from very difficult situations and school is a safe and constant place for them to go every day. My job for them is not only a teacher, but that constant adult in their life that they see every day. It is my job that they get those experiences in every way possible. Social experiences, problem-solving experiences, scientific experiences, etc. Each experience will help them grow and become responsible, able adults in the community that they value so much.
My Project
In my classroom, my students do not have desks, but instead tables. As of now, they put all of their materials in a basket on top of their table. This basket causes many problems for the students. It becomes messy, they lose materials, they become frustrated when their stuff is being messed with by another student. If they were to have their own individual chair organizers they would be responsible for their own cleanliness and quantity of their materials. Also, without a basket in the middle of the table they would have more room to work as a table in solving problems and creating ideas as a group. During independent work time, some of my students are in a real need of private space. They get distracted easily and struggle to compete work. With privacy folders they would be better able to focus on their work and complete it to the best of their abilities.
Community is so important in my classroom.
I cannot run my classroom if my students do not work together. Privacy folders and chair organizers would solve easy social problems in my classroom and make the classroom a better working environment for my students.
