My students need a class carpet where each of my 30 students has his very own space to learn.
Can you imagine 30 little bodies squished on the floor with elbows and feet all over the place? I spend part of the day teaching with the students on the rug, and I see students not focusing because another student might be sitting just a little too close for comfort!
I teach 30 fun-loving first graders at a math, science, and technology magnet school.
Since it is a lottery school, my students come from all over the district with very diverse backgrounds. Many of my students include children living with grandparents and single parents. All of them come to school eager to learn! I want to provide them a wonderful and safe learning environment at every opportunity.
In first grade we still do a good part of our teaching on the rug. I introduce many lessons there and the students will also do activities with each other on it such as partner reading. The individualized spaces and colored rows will help with grouping the students when doing projects. The students will love sitting on a new clean and colorful carpet for story time and many other fun activities!
This rug will provide each student their own individual learning space.
All the focus can now be placed on the learning at hand rather than a foot touching their backs. It will help them feel safe and secure so that they can have the opportunity to learn at all times.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
