Community Helper Dramatic Play Center

Help me give my students opportunities to develop language, create real life scenarios, and get a deeper understanding of what community helpers are with occupation dress up clothing and a storage shelf.

My Project

My students love to pretend play, and create play scenarios that involve important members of our community. What they do not have right now in our classroom however, is the costumes to make the scenarios complete. We discuss community helpers often, and describe their jobs, but we do not have all the materials we need to bring the scenarios to life. If my students were to receive these items, their language and vocabulary would continue to develop, they would be more invested in their pretend play, and they would have a better understanding of what tools community helpers need to do their jobs successfully. I would be able to put more materials out in my classroom if I had storage for them, and greater opportunities would arise for sharing, turn taking, and group play.
