This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a diverse, rambunctious classroom full of inquisitive, musically-inclined four and five-year-olds. We spend our days exploring, reading, and singing. Attending school in a high-need, low-income area, we lack some basic resources, but we make up for it with zeal, tenacity, and resiliency.
We love writing, spending time outside, asking questions, science, and art.
We are learning so much about our school and community and enjoy seeing all that Washington, DC has to offer! We may be young, but we are eager!
My Project
Soon, we will be embarking on a new study of homes and traditions. Children will use their own experiences to drive the trajectory of this study. A key aspect of this study will be our incorporation of architecture, engineering, and art. Our study will go beyond what happens in home, but what homes are physically made of.
This experience will provide children with valuable tools they can use to create structures and think of their own homes in a different way.
Furthermore, living in an area that is constantly changing, we will have a front row seat to seeing construction projects from start to finish.
