Community Carpet for Mrs. Foor's First Graders

My students need a carpet, a place where we can come together as a class family and where everyone has their own space to grow as learners and people.

My Students

My first graders are a diverse, high energy group that love to move! We enjoy learning together using games and humor and are growing together as a class family.

Our school seeks to educate the whole child, and that is what I focus on heavily in my classroom with my 20 students.

While it is important for students to learn about academics, it is equally vital for them to develop qualities that will help them become productive citizens, such as compassion, cooperation and kindness.

My Project

While there are multiple seating opportunities throughout the classroom, the carpet is where we spend a large portion of our day, learning and building community. Allowing students one more comfortable option to work helps them feel in control of their learning.

Donating to this project will not only provide our class with a fun, inviting place to gather, but more importantly, it will give us a place to grow both as people and as scholars.

At present, my students are great about staying in their designated spots on the floor, but having a carpet that actually delineates where they should be will only help them be more successful and provide a comfortable visual.
