This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In middle school, it can be the age of a bit of awkwardness and not knowing how to express yourselves which can lead some students to feel like they have no friends. I believe this to be because of missed social interactions due to Covid-19. However, with these items such as the karaoke microphone, essential conversation cards, and UNO games in my cart, I hope to build a community of students who choose to interact and build new friendships with the power of 'choice time'. In my classroom, choice time is an earned designated time students get when they excel through their academic instructional time. Due to covid, my current 5th graders were doing online learning online from 2nd grade to 3rd grade. When I was their 4th grade teacher, there were MANY problems with interacting with peers. We worked through it all, and I even looped with them to 5th grade. Covid's restrictions were more than just policies. They impacted the kids in the classroom, but I hope I can take this opportunity to open them to creating a community. I am very happy with my class. They are always all in, both academically and socially.

One of the items I want to get is a Bluetooth microphone.

The reason for this is so that we can do karaoke in the classroom! I want students to showcase their musical interests and sing along with their classmates in order to feel like a community.
