My students come to class every day, excited, full of life, ready to learn. My classroom is full of diversity and every day, I am excited for them to teach me something new! I teach at a Title I school in Southern California where all students participate in the Free Lunch Program.
My students LOVE working together!
My students are very social and love working with partners and in groups. In the few short weeks of this new school year, we have already been able to do 4 group projects successfully!
My Project
My students need board games to help them continue to build our classroom community and their social skills. My students get along well with each other and I would like to continue to build a strong classroom. My students have amazing social skills. I would like to see them channel this skill and improve their communication with one another.
By interacting, while playing board games, students will have to really work on what they say to play fair, increase their communication, and keep our classroom community strong.
Kids can get competitive while playing games which can lead to a break down in communication and upset feelings. I want to provide my students with opportunities to learn and apply social and communicate in different settings. I feel like this is a valuable, life-long skill.
