My students need toner and lamination for the purpose of having access to adapted materials for communication and academics.
This project expired on August 11, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
The students in our primary school are amazing, unique individuals! Each come with their own stories, gifts and perspectives. As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), it is a pleasure to help these students unfold their stories as they learn to communicate effectively and independently.
Having the ability to communicate is a basic human right.
Unfortunately, it does not come so easily to all. In addition to working alongside our students as they advance their skills in the areas of articulation, fluency, storytelling, language comprehension and social cognition to name a few, I have the pleasure of being able to assist our non-verbal and minimally verbal students on their journey toward discovering alternative ways to express their ideas, wants and needs.
What a gift it is to see our student's communication bloom as they grow toward more independence in completing academic tasks and expressing their ideas using words, phrases, sentences and conversation with the communication mode(s) that offer them the most success.
The colored toner and lamination sheets would be used to create and/or adapt materials for my students. Some of these materials would include low-tech alternative modes for communication, visual social stories, visual schedules, and hands-on literacy and math file folder activities. Creating these materials requires less expensive resources such as paper, glue and velcro but it does require a fair amount of toner and lamination.
I have the pleasure of being able to assist our non-verbal and minimally verbal students on their journey toward discovering alternative ways to express their ideas, thoughts and needs.
Having the ability to readily create and/or adapt classroom-based visual schedules, academic and communication-based materials would benefit my students as it will allow them increased opportunities to independently navigate their learning, their school schedules as well as their expressive communication modalities. Thank you for your consideration.
