Students come to speech and language therapy to improve communication skills to make them more successful in the general education classroom. Students are provided with many opportunities and modalities to improve and generalize their skills.
The students on my caseload are in PreK up to 5th grade.
They are ethnically diverse. All of the students have been identified as having a speech and/or language impairment. Many of the students have multiple exceptional student education eligibilities. The students require many opportunities to practice skills. It is important to provide motivating means to work on specific language skills.
My Project
Speech and language impaired students will be given the opportunity to access learning material on the iPads during direct therapy, centers and individual work. The iPads will provide students with motivating teaching tools and immediate engaging feedback. The iPads will serve as motivation and enhancement of the therapeutic process. There are thousands of speech and language apps currently available. I would like the opportunity to bring some of these great resources to my students.
Bringing iPads to the therapy process has been proven to motivate students to meet their goals and generalize speech and language skills.
I know that my students will be thrilled to practice skills they have learned. As students improve their speech and language skills with help from the iPad, their performance will improve in the general education classroom and in their social lives.
