My students need supplies (binder pouches, binders, and sheet protectors) for their communication binders. These binders are my main way to communicate with parents everyday. The binders help my students stay organized and keep everyone informed about the exciting learning in class.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title 1 school where many of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. When you and your family struggle to meet day-to-day needs, school is not always the first priority. That's why I am so excited to have a class full of excited and engaged first graders!
My students come to school everyday ready to learn and excited about what we will be doing in our classroom.
Unfortunately, to help meet the needs of our families, we are pulled in many directions financially. Therefore, my classroom lacks basic supplies that would help them be successful in the classroom.
My Project
I love building strong relationships with not only my students, but also their families.
One of the key components to building these relationships is my communication binder.
These binders help my students learn responsibility and organization. They are in charge of turning them in and making sure their parents see important notes and papers.
Each day parents can check out the color paper tabs and plastic tabs to see what kind of day their child has had, what homework is for the night, what sight words their child is working on, or to fill out the reading log for their child. They can use the pencil pouch to send notes and money to school. Page protectors are used to help showcase sight words and helpful hints for their child's learning.
These binders have been one of the key components to communication between my families while encouraging students to learn organizational skills.
