My students need a Chromebook to use in the classroom to help prepare them for the Common Core testing that will take place next year.
This project expired on September 14, 2014.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
We are the future, we will do our best for success! This is how we start our reading class each day. My students love to write, but do not like to write with paper and pencil. They love to write on the computer. This could be the year they are "Wowed" by technology!
I teach the inclusion class, this includes the below level readers, special education students, and the ell students.
(English Language Learners) Most of these students are from low income families and have limited or no access to computers and technology at home. Majority of these students are on the free or reduced lunch program. They are mostly single parent families. My students go to the computer lab once a week, and are so excited to work on the computers. Some struggle with typing on the keyboard because they do not have access to practice or experiment with technology other than at school.
My students will be able to use the Chromebook to take notes in class and then complete their writing on it as well. They will also take some of their assessments on it to get them ready for the PARC test. The more comfortable they are with using it now, the better they will be when it is time to use it for the state test. I feel they need to be confident using different types of technology because they may not have a choice in which one they use to take the state test on, desk computer or Chromebooks.
Donations to this project will help my students have a fair chance to show what they know by being able to use the technology to complete the test.
Their lack of knowledge about technology is an unfair advantage for them.
