My students need supplies like flash cards and binder rings, to help them commit vocabulary and equations to memory. The "End of Instruction" tests are weeks away and these items will help them succeed!
My students have special needs and trouble with memory retention. My students also have to pass the same tests as the general education students. If they are unsuccessful, they do not get to graduate from high school.
My students come from a low-economic area.
They not only face poverty, but drugs, crime and violence every day. It's no wonder that transversals are the last things on their minds; however, definitions for words like these are mandatory for success on the End of Instruction, (EOI), exams. My students have to take their EOI exams in the middle of May. If a student does not pass his or her EOI, he or she can not graduate from high school in Oklahoma.
My Project
These resources will not only show my students that others care about their success, but they will also provide them with the tools they need to graduate high school. Flash cards and binder rings to keep the flash cards together will provide a way for my students to commit the complex vocabulary and equations of Algebra and Geometry to memory. The paper organizers will help students keep all of their work in an accessible and organized place in the classroom. The candy is a proven psychological tool to help students focus. Sour and fruit-flavored candy will help keep students out of hypo-awareness and in the present, helping them to focus on information being presented to them. The paper towel will cut down on lost time for students running to the bathroom to get paper towel and help us spend more time on review.
Thank you sincerely for considering donating to my project.
I know my students will greatly appreciate the opportunity they have to utilize every moment in class for instruction and guided practice as opposed to locating a piece of paper or writing utensil. Lacking retention skills is a disability many of my students must overcome. Ensuring that all of the information we've covered in class is easy to study and neatly organized will be of great assistance.
