My students need 2 IPod Touch players to allow them to collect information for their Podcasts.
Help us tell the world what we know! Creating podcasts will not only allow us to learn and synthesize information, but also to send it over the internet so that others may use it as well.
My sixth grade students are digital learners.
They need to be engaged in their learning. The current tools for learning, paper, pencil, and text books, are not producing 21st century learners. I need technology to help the students think, create, evaluate, analyze, and apply. I have 55 students in Abita Springs, LA. Title 1 technology funds are used only for our fourth and fifth grade students, by law. Many students have little or no access to technology outside of school. These students are dependent upon school to provide them with the skills that they will need to be effective in the future workforce. This is a workforce that will look much different than our workforce of today. My students need to be familiar with technology that allows them to email, text, blog, create wiki pages, create podcasts, and create digital stories. An iPod Touch easily allows students to engage in these activities.
Many states, including Louisiana, have adopted new Common Core State Standards. These standards include media skills that are embedded throughout, and are to help our students be ready for college, the workforce, and life in a technological society. Students need to gather, comprehend, evaluate, synthesize, report and share information. The Apple Company has created several tools that make all of this so easy and intuitive for students. The iPod Touch allows students to view media, create their own media, and share this media so quickly and easily. It will allow students to create and view podcasts reporting, sharing, and synthesizing their knowledge of social studies and science. These are all activities that the 21st century learner is expected to have had mastered. With just two iPod Touch players, both of my classes of sixth graders will have access to the ability to create podcasts for Social Studies, Science, and Math. With an iPod Touch, students will be engaged learners.
An iPod Touch is an amazing tool for the classroom.
This tool will allow the students in my class to access technology so fast or so easy. Please help me get 2 iPod Touch players for my classroom!
