This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the most fun loving, amazing students ever. I teach on the south side of Chicago where 100% of my students receive free lunch. My students come to school with a passion for learning.
They are so eager to learn.
It is awesome to see. I want to be able to provide them with as much as I can but with all the budget cuts the city of Chicago is facing that is very hard to do. That is why we need your help.
My Project
The materials I have requested are work station materials such as unifix cubes, a portable cd player, and a small teaching easel. My students need the following materials in order to be successful at working independently, with a partner, and in groups.
Most kindergarteners are hands on learners and in order to maximize learning, my students need need manipulatives such as unified cubes, ten frames and dough mats in order to truly grasp the meaning of an idea and understand numbers.
My students also need a cd player in order to listen to books in a group and work on reading skills such as retelling and story elements. A small teaching easel would be ideal for small group instruction while other students are in their workstations, I could pull another small group of students to help them on their zone of proximal development. That is why your donation would mean the world to us. We really need more manipulatives in order to become successful kindergarteners. Please donate to our classroom. We would appreciate it!
