Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my Comic Book Club are dedicated superhero fans! They have a love for comics and graphics like none other. I, myself, consider myself a knower of many things superhero and comics, and my students have surpassed me. They have a love for exploring different stories, a love for understanding the good and the bad in every situation, and most importantly a love for reading.
My students will be able to expand their reading skills through the use of comic books and graphic novels.
The students I work with after school during Comic Book Club, are a mixture of my current students as well as my previous students. One of the things I love is being able to watch different grade levels of students interact and come together because of something they love (comics.)
My Project
These comic books will allow my students to have a hard copy of the novels we will be discussing during our after school Comic Book Club. Comic Book Club focuses on improving reading skills by encouraging students to read graphic novels and comics.
Comic books are a sure way to get any reluctant reader to read and in this club we will do more than read!
We will also be working on expanding our creativity through projects, journal prompts, and much much more. The comic book selected will aid in each pair of students receiving a copy so they can participate in those activities.
