After 20 years of teaching early childhood, I set off on a new adventure of switching grade levels. I NEVER imagined I would be greeting my precious 1st graders in a Sunday School room in a local church with whom we shared with another campus.
I thought I would be teaching eighteen 6 and 7 year olds, but instead, they taught me.
They taught me that we are all in this together and we are a school family no matter what.
Since Hurricane Harvey, we have been set up in our local church using a Sunday School room. The kids are more than willing to spread out on the floor, but I would love for them to have the option of seating on a comfy coach and develop their love for reading.
"The more you read, the more you succeed!" This famous quote by Dr. Seuss himself, is usually posted in my classroom as a reminder to make this a part of our daily routine.
Thank you for taking the time to help our classroom get back some things that were taken from us six months ago. We are on the road to RECOVERY!
