Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students work hard during our school day and they have fun doing it. They love coming to school and learning how to contribute to our genuinely diverse community by being a team player. They enjoy making connections between different concepts. They are inquisitive, voracious readers who crave to discover the newest development with characters and different story twist.
In our room we are a unique group that comes together as a team.
It is quite awesome to see how everyone will participate in each others learning. As English language learners, books are so important to my students. Many of my students do not have access to books at home, they develop their love for reading at school. We are a team and we love learning.
My Project
Every year I try to create a love for reading in my fabulous first graders. They love their time reading in the classroom library. I have made it as engaging as possible with stuffed animals or characters from popular books that they have the opportunity to read their favorite books to. Having comfortable seating during their library time would promote a greater love for their reading time. It would also allow my students to experience comfort while enjoying a good book. I have asked for a toddler couch because when we read books at home we don't do it in a hard plastic chair, we find a comfortable spot. The same reasoning went behind the bean bag request. The round soft seats are intended for my small group enrichment time.
