Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a Title I school in South Carolina where our motto is "Every Student Counts, and Every Moment Matters!" My students come from diverse backgrounds and all receive 100% free breakfasts and lunches at school. Many come from homes where English is not spoken. Some family members come from countries where they were unable to receive an education. My awesome students come to school eager to learn each day. We work to ensure our learning is engaging, effective, and fun! I also recognize that, as a teacher, my job is to provide more than just academic knowledge to students. I strive to teach the whole child and make sure all of their needs are met daily!
My Project
I work to have alternative seating options in our classroom for my students. When we changed themes to a camping theme, we were blessed with some options! But as the school year has gone on, we have noticed that there aren't enough options for all students to have a fun, comfortable place to sit.
This project will provide a few new seating options so that there will be enough for all of my students to have a comfortable spot to learn and read.
We hope to add some folding camp chairs that can be moved and organized around the room however we need for different times of the day. Some students enjoy sitting or laying in the floor to read, so we are also asking for 4 circle pillows to make this more comfortable for them.
