I have a class of 15, three- and four-year-old students. These students come from a city that has the reputation of being one of the most dangerous cities in America. Every day these students come to school eager to be loved and to develop a love for learning.
This is the first year of school for most students in my classroom.
These preschoolers are full of curiosity and wonder. They learn best through hands-on materials that allow them to explore!
My Project
We need to replace our carpets in our block area, dramatic play center, and library areas. Our carpets are wearing thin and have been well-loved. We have tile floors which are hard and uncomfortable, especially if your activities require you to sit on the floor. I love when we can use the carpet for activities. Students are more comfortable and we are able to spread out our materials.
The carpets chosen are in shades that promote calmness.
Dramatic play and blocks are considered noisy areas, so I specifically chose carpets that are in cool calming colors. The library area carpet will help to reinforce letters of the alphabet since that is also our literacy center. Having these new carpets will ensure that students will have a safe, warm and comfortable place to explore their areas.
