Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"No, that's because this is a model!" my student shouted after another had asked, "will this take 100 million years, too?" while working on a landform lesson. It is music to my ears to hear my students guide their learning, work as a community and have conversations about our subjects. These students work hard every day. Whenever they walk into our classroom it does not matter what they faced before coming to school, they know that our classroom is a safe and loving classroom where goal growth happens.
My Project
Books transport us to another world and give us experiences that we wouldn't have otherwise. Yet, kids who struggle with reading find it very difficult to have an enjoyable experience especially when they are struggling with a hard desk and an uncomfortable chair. Why not give them a nice comfy area where they can relax and focus on the words of the book? It is easier for them to transport to their book setting when they are comfortable. What an increase it is in their motivation. The 2 rugs and 3 bean bag chairs, of bright and happy colors will give them the cozy place they need! We are also asking for velcro, because, honestly, think of all the great things velcro does!!! We use it for center cards, folder games, science projects and so much more!
