This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our first grade classroom is full of imagination, laughter, and excitement. We are a very fun and energetic class that learns Spanish through reading, working on wonderful science and social studies projects, creating our own fiction and non-fiction texts, and many other interesting activities!

This is my sixth year teaching in the USA, and I am honored to teach a group of wonderful first graders.

My students spend half of their day learning first grade subjects in Spanish as part of the dual immersion program at our school. There are 44 children, aged 6 and 7, who are simultaneously learning core subjects in English and in Spanish. They all love learning through our projects!

My Project

These past months we've been using a really old and used couch that we had to say good-bye too. It's been really great to have a comfy space in the classroom library where students can read in pairs, as if they were at their own home.

We're requesting a new couch that will help us continue to have a great spot in the library that students love and is always a favorite when they have to choose their reading spot.

We can't wait to have a new piece of furniture that will help us maintain our cozy reading corner!
