I do not work at a Title I campus. My student population is not economically or academically disadvantaged. I am very blessed to be at the campus that I am currently at; however, I want to inspire my students to go beyond the subjects in school.
I want my students to imagine, create, explore and inspire themselves and their world.
I am hoping to create a space in my library that will transform the library into the heart of the school.
Five years ago I began the journey of transferring the library into a welcoming and engaging spot in the school. At first, my focus was on incorporating more Makerspace and STEAM activity. Now I'm continuing the journey in making the library as welcoming and engaging but I want to focus on more comfy seating. I'm hoping to add more arrangements along with a couple of games to encourage the students to stay for a while.
Now a library isn't a library unless there's a spot to sit and lounge.
Having a comfy spot to sit and read or create is a must in any library. I've been working to add more comfy sitting and to make the library as warm and welcoming as any of the classrooms at our campus.
