In a classroom of diverse learners, personalities, and attitudes it is often challenging to maintain a comfortable learning atmosphere for students in our meeting area. With a new meeting rug, each student would have a designated spot to themselves.
My classroom consists of thriving, growing five/six year olds.
They love to learn, make new friends, and be a part of a classroom community. They are eager to participate and encourage one another in all aspects of learning. My students attend a school of over 500 PreK-3rd grade students. Many students come from low socioeconomic status so the setting I provide at school is as important to me as it is to them.
My Project
By obtaining this meeting rug, my students will have designated spots on the carpet. They will be able to monitor their bodies on their own and I will be able to efficiently call on students. The rug I have selected has colored rows which will enable me to group students and call them by rows to join me or line up. This will help make transitions faster. This meeting rug will also provide a comfortable place for students to play, read, and sit with friends. They will have a new, clean atmosphere to relax on.
This project is important to me because I want to provide my students with the cleanest and most comfortable learning environment possible.
A new meeting rug would provide a welcoming environment for students to enjoy learning and playing with classmates. It will also provide me with a tool to effectively transition groups of students to and from the meeting area.
