Teaching is my passion! I began teaching preschool 16 years ago and know that preschoolers are naturally curious, creative, capable and full of energy. I am a new teacher at my school and have the best job ever! My students learn best in small groups when activities are appealing and hands-on!
My classroom is divided into learning centers.
Students rotate and explore each area and work at their own pace to be successful. I teach 22 students full time in our Pre-Kindergarten program. My students are very excited to explore in our classroom. The block, sensory, math and kitchen areas are currently the students favorite centers.
My Project
I am requesting comfortable child inviting furniture, a rug, story telling puppets, books, literacy manipulatives and puzzles. Each week I organize centers. Our literacy center is a place where students actively engage in literature, story telling, alphabet letters, phonemic awareness, letter formation, rhyming words and puzzles. Currently I do not have any attractive, child inviting activities to welcome the students into our library to engage their interests. I am requesting these items for our class library! These items will turn my library into a welcoming center where students grow their love of reading.
This project will give me the necessary tools to create a warm, child centered literacy area where children can look and read books.
It will give them the strong literacy foundation needed to cultivate learning. I know it will become one of the most sought after centers in the classroom and students will enjoy and grow in our library center!
