Our primary school, K-3, is presently housing 2 primary buildings due to an electrical fire. Another school in our district moved into our building after their loss, and they have been with us for approximately 2 years. Their new building should be ready next fall. So we are pretty crowded, but it is working out and we have all learned to be flexible and make it work for our students. My class is a diverse group of academic levels. Several students receive academic support in reading and math. I have a few students with ADHD and ADD. These students work best with concrete tactile learning tools. I also have several students who have learning disabilities in reading and/or math. We encourage our students to read independently at their own Lexile levels with the Pizza Hut Reading Incentive Program and a Titan Track Program using online materials. We reward our readers with incentive charts to track their reading progress and Burchfield Bucks that can be used at our school store for supplies. All in all, the foundational reading skills are strongly encouraged as our young readers learn to develop an interest and love of reading.
My Project
Our class is involved in a Titan Track Program with Scholastic! Each book read is assessed and our young readers earn incentives toward an annual goal! This important program develops lifelong readers and promotes a love of reading.
The bright new carpet will promote reading independently in the classroom.
It will be incentive to read new books and develop our independent reading skills. Our present carpet has worn out, and this would be a great addition to our classroom reading corner! Thank you in advance for your consideration in this effort. We your help and support more than you know!
