This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school strives to find the leader in all students. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. This year, we are implementing personalized learning.
My 2nd grade class consists of 25 amazing students.
Of those 25, four are students who received services from a Special Education teacher, and two are in speech. All of the students are excited to be in charge of their own learning. We all look forward to making it successful!
My Project
Collaboration and accountable talk is important to our principal. During meeting times, our students will be exploring ways to explain their learning verbally. Currently, our classroom does not have a carpet or rug. The students have to sit on a cold, laminate floor. Making sure the students are feeling cozy will enhance their ability to share important examples of what they know.
“Talk supports robust learning by boosting memory.
Talk is a rich source of information and plays a part in developing almost every memory we form.” *came from the Institute for Learning.
A carpet will give our students a comfortable place to make links to other concepts and meaning we already have. This helps them practice the skills we are learning in a different way. All students learn differently, and this helps me differentiate how they are learning.
This will enhance the environment. My goal is to help students be excited about learning.
