My Project

Having a charging station, with some cabinets that lock will allow me to help my students feel as if they have a place to put their things, or charge their phones safely. It seems like a small thing, but to them it is a big thing. Working in an urban school presents a lot more challenges for our students and the teachers than most people realize. Building an organized classroom will help my students feel secure in the classroom. Often, my students will be moving from house to house with no space to call their own.

While teaching, I use the erasable pens while I am teaching with the document camera.

The students love them! So I would like to be able to give them to the students as incentives. It seems as if students are more willing to show their work on the board if they are allowed to use my erasable, very colorful pens. For instance, I have a student named Jaylenn who would never go up to the board to show his work. We made a deal. He would show his work three times and then he could pick a pen for himself. Worked wonderfully!!

The goal for asking for these specific pieces is to help my students feel as if school is somewhere they fit in and having a clean, organized space is something kids need since being pulled out of school during COVID-19. I love the idea of students feeling that they are worth having a comfortable, homey feeling space in which to learn and grow.

Thank you for helping make our classroom a safe, learning, comfortable space for my 8th grade students. Makes a big difference for us.
