This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students overcome amazing obstacles every day. They love to come to school to learn and to feel safe. We have a 98% percent poverty rate. Even though students have struggles, they have a resilient spirit. Students come to school ready and willing to learn. They will soar!

My students are motivated learners who love to explore and create.

My students work hard to overcome any obstacles in their path. All students should be prepared to think deeply and to think well so that they have the chance to become the innovators, educators, researchers, and leaders who can solve the most pressing challenges facing our nation and our world, both today and tomorrow.

My Project

First graders need a lot of help and teacher led instruction. With this carpet, students will have assigned seating to help them focus and be the best learners possible! Students will be able to collaborate with a partner or small group. They will be attentive listeners for story time and whole group lessons! They will enjoy the bright colors and ample spacing provided by this rug. The carpet is a home inside a classroom, fostering learning and creativity.Community is so critical in developing confident, capable learners. By having a classroom carpet, the students will have a chance to get out of their chairs and come together to learn up close and personal!
