Active kindergartners fill our room. They are so eager to learn through exploration. The students are from diverse cultures with very different demeanors and learning styles. Unique learning experiences help the diverse students turn exploration into knowledge. Most, if not all, of the students in the school come from low-income homes. Many students only have the learning resources found at school, so providing the best learning experience is key to achievement.
The learning resources available at school means so much to student success.
Having the ability to provide diverse experiences along with a sense of community learning ensures every student has the opportunity for success. Engaging activities, resources, and a community learning environment help guide the active learners in our class to build skills for a lifetime.
My Project
A carpet allows students to sit comfortably on the floor during activities. A carpet also provides a warm and inviting place to learn and work together. Currently, my students do not have a carpet when working on the floor. I have noticed students move toward cushions and a small carpet when choosing floor space independently. The opportunity to offer students a comfortable learning environment is so important.
A larger group carpet meeting area will allow our entire class community more opportunities to spend time in a comfortable floor learning space.
Inviting learning spaces make a big difference in the day of a student. Students need a warm and comfortable community area to sit on the floor. The carpet I chose will be a big enough space for a large group, yet small enough to move around the room as needed. One last great feature of this carpet is the additional learning experience provided through the alphabet and pictures aid literacy learning as a comfortable (comfy) carpet.
