This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The third grade students in my class accept new challenges with ease. They are eager to learn and to play. They build, solve problems, work together, seek information, and enjoy learning. They work hard to master skills.
Students in my classroom demonstrate resilience and grit every day.
They come to school smiling, and greet each day energetically. They maintain very positive attitudes in the face of some daunting challenges. These Learners deserve every opportunity to grow and improve in a safe, welcoming environment.
My Project
Having a large, comfortable carpet in the classroom will benefit the third grade in several ways:
1) it will add an element of warmth and comfort to the classroom
2) it will give students a clean, comfortable place to sit during morning meeting and large group time
3) it will allow small groups of students to work together on projects when more space than desktops is needed
4) the layout of the carpet will enable students to develop a sense of personal space
5) it will provide an area where students can work together to build social skills
This carpet will be placed on the floor in an uncarpeted room of a mobile unit of classrooms.
