Comfy and Safe

Help me give my students a comfortable place to sit on the floor. Since Covid, the children need to be separated on the floor for their safety. These pillows make the hard floor more comfortable.

My Students

My students are a great mix, with a variety of backgrounds! I teach an English as a second language program as well as a cross-categorical special education classroom. We have three different languages represented in our classroom. My students come to me for help in reading and math. I have always used sign language in my classroom (my second language) and the children love it.

Our school is an inclusion-based school.

We have a large population of autistic students as well as "intense global support" children. These children are included in our classroom for different subjects throughout the day.

My Project

When using these cushions all the children will have a comfortable place to sit on the floor. We will be able to separate them during Covid so they are a safe distance from one another. We have had children come to school ill and we have to send home all the others who sit close to them. Using the pillows, they will have a definite spot to sit on and we can reduce the number of close contacts. The rug area in our room covers only part of the floor so the children who are on the tile floor need a warm bottom.

The best part is that the children will be able to wiggle on the cushions!
