My Students
I work in a Title I school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students come from many different backgrounds, cultures, races, and family dynamics. Many students come from low income, multi-family households. My school is a very large public school that serves nearly 1,000 students.
As diverse as my students' backgrounds are, they are even more diverse academically.
They each have many individual needs that can change almost daily. Differentiation plays a major role in my classroom in order to help each and every student become successful both academically and in life.
My Project
Students in today's classrooms are diverse in so many ways. From their academic skills to their cultural backgrounds, students enter the classroom with a variety of needs that must be addressed in order to help them be successful.
One of the most basic and essential needs of a students is the specific environment in which they can be successful in learning.
Where and how a student feels comfortable can directly impact their engagement in a learning task. Flexible seating options such as the wobble stools included in this project will provide students with a choice on where and how they sit when completing tasks. By giving students the choice in the type of seat they think will help them learn best allows them to be more accountable and invested in their own learning needs.
