My students need a new classroom rug and seating pillows. Ours has been around a few years now and has seen better days! The students use the rug a lot throughout the day.

My Students

Help us be comfy! Our classroom rug is a treasured area where whole group, small group, and partner learning takes place daily. We love a rug with 1st graders because they love to be up close to the learning. In first grade sitting still for some students is hard to do, so we transition to the rug.

My class is one of the best bunch of 1st graders I have had in my 6 years of teaching at the primary level.

We actually have double the boys in the class than girls! With so many students wanting to explore learning and leave their seats to do that, we need a nice clean area, like our classroom rug. Our school is in an urban location in Buffalo.

My Project

As you enter our room the very first thing visitors, students, parents, etc. notice is our oval alphabet rug. It's very useful and with the letters of the alphabet we can call students over to a certain letter to maximize learning. The students use the rug for almost every lesson of the day. They come to the rug in the morning for morning message, reading, math, etc. The students learn best when they are up close to the teacher and the interactive SMART Board.

This project will improve the quality of health for the students because our rug is old and has seen better days for sure!

The students will be so excited to have a new, different rug with some soft pillows for group work.
