I work with 22 Kindergarten students in a small town near San Francisco. They have an energy and excitement for school that can not be contained. My students love to learn and move. They are kinetic learners!
These excitable and hard working kids need to be able to learn a lot but learn best when having the opportunity to sit in a variety of seating arrangements.
I want to give my students every chance to learn that I can. They deserve the best.
My Project
Comfy and cozy seating makes students comfortable right away in my classroom and allows learning to take place at a more rapid pace. The kids feel like they are at home and the classroom becomes a non threatening fun place to learn. Student choice in seating options makes them feel like a valued member of the class.
I am asking for floor back seats to go with my low table that is currently in my classroom along with floor pillows and bean bag chairs.
Currently students sit on pillows at a low table but I feel that by having a backed seat they will be able to have more support and comfort. The beanbag seats and floor cushions will help me expand my seating options even further. My kindergarten students love to take the pillows I have now to sit in various locations in the room to work on their reading, writing and math. By spreading out from the tables students are more productive as they are comfortable and not as close together and thus less likely to talk and more likely to learn. I know that by adding more options it will expand their comfort and desire to do their work. These seating options also give my little ones a chance to move which is still a big part of their learning day.
