Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our library is a center of learning for students in my classroom. My students are from very poor families. Half of the students at my school are classified as homeless. The students are second language learners, many are reading at a second grade level.
My students are eager learners with great potential.
They are very kind and respectful students who work hard at home and at school. These kids have a lot of potential and desire to learn.
Students from my school are working hard to understand the concepts being taught at school with very little available support at home. Parents are willing to help the best they can with limited resources. This combination makes it even more important for students to be hard workers.
My Project
My students need a comfortable place to enjoy their in class reading. Currently, students are sitting on their hard desk chairs while reading. Building a classroom library will allow for my students to more thoroughly enjoy their reading time.
With your help, students will have an opportunity to move to an area in the classroom designated as our library where they will have 4 comfy bean bag chairs and an area rug.
Not only will students be more motivated to complete their assignments in a timely fashion, those who do will be rewarded with a nice place to go to read.
Our classroom floors are old and cold. Please bring warmth to the classroom.
