This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
In my k-2 autistic support classroom, we have chairs that are too big and too small for my students. Students with disabilities often have difficulty sitting up the correct way and need support. Having chairs that are too big or small can affect that even more. Allowing my students access to chairs that are the correct size will help them be able to stabilize their bodies in order or them to sit correctly to do their work. These chairs will also allow for us to incorporate flexible seating options like sensory cushions, etc. to place on the chairs for my students.
