My Students
I work in a school district that is low income/high poverty. My students are working well below grade level and need extra support to help them accelerate their learning.
They are very eager to learn but just lack the extra support they need to help them reach their full potential.
Several of my students have never been read to at home or even been taught how to hold a book. We have to start with the very basic book handling skills before we even begin to teach them how to read. Once we have achieved this, they are so eager to learn to read on their own.
My Project
Comfortable seating for students is very important so that they can concentrate while they are working.
These chairs will offer my students a comfortable seat to work in during guided reading time.
This will help the students to be able to sit for longer periods of time during instruction.
The chairs will help students be able to focus on the task at hand during guided reading. When a child is comfortable during instruction it makes it much easier for them to be engaged in what is being taught. This basic need will make our classroom and my students very happy.
